The importance of a retreat

JourneyIndia-varanasi.jpg

"A retreat is a shortcut! It is the gathering before the growing. It is the cocoon that will metamorphose our existence. It is the psychedelic journey with full access to our spiritual entheogeny, well guarded in our inner self. It is love and the recognition of ourselves in the whole. It is to find the port to which we call home.

It is not adrift that here at Dharmadhatu we organize some retreats. In fact, there are one thousand reasons to organize a retreat and there are one thousand more that can make us enter in the challenge of immerse in one. However, few are blessed with the possibility of retreating to a true spiritual discovery. We need to be ready, prepared, open to the recognition of what we are beyond the veils of illusion, nominated by Maya on ancient texts.

It is not because a retreat is of extreme difficulty, nor even because of the exotic practices there executed in a yogi style... A retreat is an anxious search for an end, a goal a deep understanding which overpasses life's daily superficiality. A retreat is that internal quest for a major meaning, that indulges our soul and not our senses. It is having the pleasure, the blessing and the privilege of stopping the wheel of life and apart from that motion in samsara, to be able of recalling ourselves to that one point of definition - apart from external appearance, apart from worldly interactions that blindingly guides us and shapes us in not so noble materials, founded here and there in external opportunities that life keeps showing us and that we accept without wondering.

A retreat, allows us to inquire and understand internal nature. It is from there, that raw fundamental matter that we are made, that we become allowed to conceive the world around at our image, as the sentient beings we are and that so many times become tangled by this spiritual bureaucratic web sewed by our own karma, that intertwines us and left us drifting away, in an apathetic and consented ocean of suffering.

A retreat is a shortcut! Is that shortcut that only the bravest are capable of follow, as it brings with it the unknown, the danger of reality, the hidden fears of our internal dead-end alleys, the facing of all dangers brought by our wildest inner nature, the fear of arriving at an end and understanding that only now the path is starting. It is the gathering before the growing. It is the cocoon that will metamorphose our existence. It is the psychedelic journey with full access to our spiritual entheogeny, well guarded in our inner self. It is love and the recognition of ourselves in the whole. It is to find the port to which we call home.

It is not adrift that we organize retreats. Because we have lived it before countless times. Alone, with each other, with many! We have been in these instances enough times to already know where they take us, and sometimes we feel comfortable to take others with us.

In our retreats, we remember the spiritual tree we are, harmonizing the strength of our roots with the wideness of our branches and leaves. We open our sap to meet the sun, connecting body and spirit, nurturing both, taking care of both, conveying both. Knowing that we are the promoters of this gathering and making it with the confidence of being there countless times.

From 1 to 4th of August, some bold ones that adventure in the shortcut that will shorten the path that will take them to the beginning of the path, will be able to find this moment. Where work ceases, where mind ceases, the body expresses itself and the Self is recognised. Beyond what we appear to be... Being what we were born to be.
